About Dr. Lavelle:

Dr. Lavelle earned her bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Waterloo in Ontario Canada.  She relocated to Central Florida in 2004 to attend the American Psychological Association (APA) Accredited doctoral training program at the Florida School of Professional Psychology in Tampa.  She earned her master’s degree in clinical psychology with honors from that university in 2006, before attaining her doctoral degree in clinical psychology with honors in 2009. 

Dr. Lavelle has been in private practice in Lakeland, Florida since 2009. Her practice has provided assessment and psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Lavelle has also provided training and supervision for predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees.  Dr. Lavelle simultaneously served as an adjunct instructor at the Florida School of Professional Psychology, where she taught doctoral level classes in psychological assessment.

While managing a successful private practice, supervising trainees, and raising a family, Dr. Lavelle earned a postdoctoral master’s degree in psychopharmacology from Farleigh Dickinson University (FDU) in 2020.  Through that additional APA-Designated training, she developed further expertise in the biological factors affecting mental health, the effects of various psychotropic medications, illicit substances, and other factors on the human body and mind.  She also developed acumen in the prescribing of medications to treat mental health disorders.

Dr. Lavelle is recognized as a certified forensic examiner in the state of Florida, and she is regularly called upon by the courts to serve as an expert witness in matters of competency, sanity, and mitigating factors as pertaining to mental health.  Dr. Lavelle is also recognized by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) as a specialist in matters of intellectual disability and developmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She has also worked with other agencies such as the Department of Disability Services.  Dr. Lavelle also provides psychological evaluations for the Veterans Administration (VA), evaluating veterans who have concerns regarding mental health disabilities such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  Physicians also refer patients to Dr. Lavelle for diagnostic clarification and treatment planning, as well as presurgical assessments.  In addition, Dr. Lavelle provides psychoeducational testing services for individuals who suspect they or their children are afflicted with learning disorders such as dyslexia, as well as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).  She provides assessment, treatment planning and psychotherapy for individuals who are afflicted by depression, anxiety, trauma, and situational stress.  In addition to her clinical and training work, Dr. Lavelle has enjoyed providing trainings and speaking at conferences on a range of topics.

Dr. Lavelle has been licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in Florida since 2011, and the state of Louisiana since 2021, where she is also licensed as a Medical Psychologist.  She is authorized by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to prescribe psychotropic medications.  She is a member of the Louisiana Academy of Medical Psychology.  Dr. Lavelle currently provides psychotropic medication management, psychotherapy, and psychological assessment services through an association with Southern Psychological Specialists in New Orleans, in addition to her own private psychological practice in Lakeland, Florida.  

About Dr. Vasquez:

Dr. Vasquez earned her Bachelor’s degree in 2009 from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a major in psychology and a minor in marketing. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2011. During her Master’s degree, Dr. Vasquez completed her training with a specialty in substance abuse counseling. After obtaining her Master’s degree, Dr. Vasquez worked in Las Vegas, Nevada as a Clinical Professional Counselor. She worked with children who were part of the foster care system and aided in reuniting families through family counseling. Additionally, she worked for a community mental health clinic in which she provided therapy to clients who suffered from trauma, depression, anxiety, and severe mental illness. Dr. Vasquez utilizes Interpersonal and Psychodynamic theories to aid in therapeutic interventions.
Dr. Vasquez relocated to Florida in 2017 to further her education and provide psychological assessment services. She has been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida since 2017. She obtained her Psy.D. in 2022 at an American Psychological Association accredited doctoral training program, The Florida School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University (FSPP) where she also earned her second Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology in 2019. Dr. Vasquez has completed her doctoral training within private practice, college counseling, and forensic settings providing assessment and therapy services for clients with an array of mental health disorders. She is completed her predoctoral internship at Northeast Florida State Hospital (NEFSH) working with severe mental illness and the forensic population. In addition to gaining experience in completing competency evaluations during a practicum experience with Dr. Lavelle, Dr. Vasquez has sharpened these skills through a forensic rotation at NEFSH. Dr. Vasquez is currently completing her postdoctoral residency hours under the supervision of Dr. Lavelle in which she will provide psychological assessment services to diverse populations.
